I’d be more upset with ABC if I weren’t seeing nonstop repeats of the Spike Lee “documentary” of Katrina on HBO, seemingly on a nightly basis. You know, the one where ol’ Spike uses “regular citizens” to throw out accusations that the Bush administration blew up the levies in order to hold down the darkies and help out whitey? Look, I agree with almost everyone else, nothing knowingly fake should be used, call it a “docudrama” or not, and they shouldn’t make up scenes out of wholecloth. I said the same thing about the CBS/Streisand hit job on the Reagans and I say that now. Neither, however, do I believe one darn word that Sandy Berger says. The guy got caught stealing documents from the national archives, and we all know why. I understand complete shills like David Brock and his cronies following suit….they’re shills, after all. But the calls to pull the thing completely, if true, reek of censorship.

BTW, from my point of view there was almost as much anger and disdain from the left towards Berger back then as there is at Spike’s “documentary” right now. Meaning, not easily found. Why is consistency such a rare commodity? Finally, in the “that was then, this is now” department:

Where can I find copies of letters from Clinton officials writing to Mr. Executive Box attendee demanding to (a) see the script; (b) have editorial control over what they say is “false” to be removed? Don’t tell me this is all a bunch of staged political theater!
