Correcting the right

Gotta calls ‘em as I sees ‘em. Allah & co. point out what amounts to child cruelty as someone is using a cute little girl to spout her parents’ wacko left-wing conspiracy theories and idiotic ramblings and how youtube is somehow highlighting the video (I saw it when I went to YT’s main page the other day, as well). He’s right, what she’s saying amounts to making her a moonbat. He’s wrong, however, in saying that she’s the “littlest moonbat”. Come on, we all know who that is. :)

Next up, I’m somewhat in agreement with the indefatigable John Hawkins in his defense of, gulp, Rosie O’Donnell. He says:

Heck, making fun of the way people speak has been a staple of the acts of comedians for a long time. How often has Carlos Mencia made fun of the way people talk? How many times have you heard a black comedian say something like, “And you know how white people are, it’s like, ‘Hey buddy, what’s going on over there?’ “

And, you know, he’s right. I’ll go even further and say that one needn’t be a comedian to qualify for that, as well. There was nothing demeaning and the intent was not to do harm in any way by what O’Donnell said or how she said it. She did a rough interpretation of someone speaking Chinese and she made it (arguable) in a funny way. I didn’t think it was funny, but what she said was perfectly innocent. Look, we’re wound to tightly as a nation when we constantly go around seeking ways to get offended. O’Donnell, not exactly the smartest person on the planet, was wrong when she said that Kelly Ripa did something wrong when she was put-off by Clay Aiken putting his hand on her mouth. Well, actually, she said it was “homophobia”, but that’s the inane ramblings of an idiot who sees homophobia in almost everything they do (cue the Andrew Sullivan comparison theme music, minus the ‘idiot’ characterization, replacing with ‘hysterical queen’). Her saying “cheeng chong” was anything but racist. Come on, people, if we’re bastardizing the word “racist” so much that an impersonation of another language is “racist” then we have a long way to go to get back on the straight (pun intended) and narrow. It’s not racist to say “cheeng chong” if the intent is signify “Chinese”. It’s not racist to say whites can’t dance or that blacks don’t swim or that Mexicans tend to live together if the intent isn’t to dehumanize any of the groups involved. Nothing wrong with stereotypes when the intent is to generalize, folks. When the line is crossed is when it’s done in order to demean, diminish or dehumanize a person or group. Rosie O’Donnell’s moonbat ramblings offend me on a constant basis, but “cheeng chong” is not offensive and shouldn’t be offensive to anyone. It was completely innocent.

I’m a white southern baptist, so I’m usually a part of the group who bears the brunt of all the politically correct jokes that couldn’t be said on television about other groups. Bring. It. On. As long as its funny, fine by me. By the way, folks like Carlos Mencia, Dave Chappelle & Lisa Lampanelli go against the grain and make hilarious jokes about different clusters of folks (Chappelle’s relegated almost entirely to race while the others have no boundaries) and as long as its funny & there’s no evil intent, it’s fine. Political correctness did in Andrew Dice Clay’s career, folks, let’s not screw up another one by way of analyzing what needn’t be analyzed. Check your delicate sensibilities at the door and laugh. Man up, for goodness sakes!

Along those lines, Michael Richards’ diatribe wasn’t racist. Offensive, yes. Stupid, yes. Idiotic, yes. Moronic, yes. Disdainful, yes. Racist? No. His intent was most certainly to do harm and he had every negative intention behind his comments, but saying “nigger” doesn’t make someone a racist and the word “nigger” isn’t racist in and of itself. It’s a WORD. I’ve had some doozy fights with my wife and we’ve called each other names much worse than that and it certainly didn’t make me a mysogynist or her a man-hater. It made us humans who do stupid things and who sometimes say stupid things. What’s interesting is that Michael Richards is one of Larry David’s buds & the entire clan is a bunch of far-left limosine liberals. Yet another example showing us that if one is for or against tax cuts or if one is for or against legalizing abortion or if one is a Republican or a Democrat, it has nothing to do with one’s soul & the reflection of what lies within. For all I know Richards is a racist, but I doubt it & him calling someone a “nigger” signifies – at best – bigoted sentiments that he allows to come out when he’s outraged. Well, gee, we all say stupid things when we’re outraged. Reached for comment, Howard Dean said “yeeeeeeaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhhh!”, even though he normallly doesn’t act that way.

  1. H. Lewis Smith:

BOOK CRITICAL OF AFRICAN AMERICANS WHO USE THE N-WORD

Los Angeles, CA., 11/28/06 – Author H. Lewis Smith has written a thought provoking, culturally divided book that will not only spark heated conversation, but can also bring about real change. The N-word is often used in the African American community amongst each other and is generally not a problem when spoken by another African American. However, once the word is used by a Caucasian person, it brings on other effects. The question is “who can use the word and why?” Smith believes it is a word that should be BURIED!

The book is written in a manner that all can understand. The points are well-taken and the wording is easy to follow. There are quotes from great people in our history including Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, James Baldwin and many, many others. Smith has mixed history with honesty, love with life, education with effects. This is a great book for educators, parents, managers, professionals, newsmen, and anyone else wanting an in-depth look at the N-word, the effects and the solutions. A MUST READ!
