Mediocre banter and various blather
Thanks to reader Terry, we find out that the esteemed and ever-so-honest group known as media matters is trying to rewrite history by telling us that Don Imus is a conservative. Yes, Ann was right, according to some on the left history truly began yesterday. Goodness.
Let’s see. We have Andrew Sullivan (cue “when doves cry” theme song). John Cole. Now, Don Imus. Exit question: Are there any conservatives out there who actually vote for Republicans?

Hey, why not?
They’ve already re-written history so that the National SOCIALIST Party in Germany in the 1930s and 40s were headed by right-wingers, so why not?
Anytime anything bad happens, no matter where, no matter when, it’s the fault of a right winger. You should know that by now, Ricky…

Well, that goes without saying, I mean…wait…just built another school…flowers….something about reasonable, the message is grainy…:D

And if so, why?

Touche’.
Sadly, as I’ve long said, the choice is a bunch of free spenders who promise smaller gov’t but who give us bigger gov’t versus free spenders who promise big gov’t but give us massive gov’t. Some choice.

As far as I’m concerned, positions on national security issues trump ALL other issues. And on that basis, for me it’s very, very easy to find Republicans to vote for, such as Rudy or McCain.

Terry, the good governor of New Mexico holds more Republican positions than your named candidates.

Richardson & his stances were discussed a bit here. Which means that he has a snowball’s chance in hell of getting the Dem nod. However, what Terry was trying to say (and please correct me if I’m wrong, Terry) was that even though those guys deviate from the GOP platform on several issues, their stances & proposals on national security trump those deviations.
On that, I agree wholeheartedly. Rudy’s early claims of wanting public funding for abortions are trumped (according to many, including me) by his willingness to take down the bad guys instead of hand-wringing & trying to negotiate with those who aren’t negotiable. (IMO, of course. YMMV) Sort of like how a lot of Democrats are against racism & abhor the KKK but accept Robert Byrd with open arms because his political affiliation trumps those principles. He’s a good lib/dem, so it’s okay. Were he to change nothing other than his party status or become a liability to the party, he’d suddenly become a pariah amongst those who now love him and they’d rewrite history by claiming that they never really liked him as much as advertised. (See: Imus, Don).
Likewise, were Rudy to go soft on nat’l security, he’d fall back in line with Linc Chaffee & Arlen Specter and a lot of other moderate-to-left Republicans who’d be considered for a major office about the same time that polygamy is endorsed by the pope.

Rick has it exactly right.
While I personally like Richardson, he doesn’t stand a chance in Hell of getting the nomination. Also, he probably has more skeletons in his closet than Rudy or any of the other serious candidates, whether Dems or Reps.

Well, hopefully I can help with that. As of right now, he’s my Primary candidate.

As noted above, Bill Richardson is a swell guy, or at least that is my recollection from days in baseball camp with the Kansas City Athletics back in the late 1960s.

If the Democrats were smart, they’d go all out for Richardson.
Unfortunately, the establishment Democrats are a bunch of idiots.
